Just enough theory to use it
There is no single "correct" English: Standard English is one variety among many. Each variety has its own accent, vocabulary and grammar, shaped by history – colonisation, migration and contact with other languages. Strong answers describe features of a variety precisely (pronunciation, words, grammar), explain them historically, and reflect on status: why some varieties carry prestige while others are stigmatised, although all are rule-governed and complete.
